Process Lasso v9 GUI

All About Process Lasso Version 9 Final

I, of course, immediately posted when version 9 was published, but that was not the introduction it deserved. I am/was exhausted, having worked so hard to get it released (not that the work is done, updates coming already). However, I didn’t well document the changes, so let me document a few.

Config Profiles

These are alternate configurations that you can create. Later, we’ll add these to automation capabilities, but for now you can manually switch between them.

Filtered view

Lasso v9 process filter

As seen in the image at the top of the page, you can now filter the list of processes, so you see what process you are interested in. This does pause the refresh so that you can examine the process.

Better UI

The graph legend was previously an ugly bitmap. That is now dynamically painted, as you see in the image above. It lends itself to easier localization as well. The GUI also had some painting artifacts when being resized, but this build is silky smooth!

Language Selection

If no language is found selected (say, when a new user logs in), it uses that user’s Windows language preference, if available. If you wish to over-ride this, simply run the installer and your choice should be honored.

The famous installer NSIS, created by the more famous WinAMP guys, has pretty much been abandoned, despite being used by thousands(?) of projects. It turned out we weren’t using the latest release though, so we made that upgrade. Part of this was because even the new version has trouble with our HTTPS downloads (we can’t disable SSLv3 yet). We plan to next replace the installer with our own custom code.

Frequency of ProBalance Action and Insights Improvements

The new Frequency of Action will help tell you just how much it has to be restrained, as opposed to a simple count. This takes into account the time the process runs. The governor slider is also new, allowing for easy adjustment of governor refresh rate, which improves all Process Lasso actions.

LogViewer More Usable

I noticed that the LogViewer was extremely limited because it was only displaying a small number of log entries. I have now adjusted that and continue to adjust it to get to the right number, and eventually making it user adjustable, and dynamically loading older events for performance.

More to come ….

There is now more to list, but I wanted to start giving you a quick introduction to a little of version 9.

    Well done!

  • So you got a promotional license that clearly states ‘no updates’ and you are asking what to do? Well, I have to be fair in licensing, so your option is to go back to some older version 8 build, or just use the free edition of Process Lasso. I use the free edition in testing and tolerate those terrible ‘nags’, and really don’t find it that burdensome. What would you like for me to do for you? Is there something else you feel entitled to? I do NOT want to leave you frustrated, but your license was not deactivated before only out of grace and lax enforcement.

  • Thanks! It’s been a pretty good release. There will be a few minor issues I address in the next couple weeks, there always are, but the major hurdle of releasing a stable build is over. It really is much better, despite not getting to ALL of the features I hoped to add (yet). I refactored so much of the GUI code that it’s efficiency is much better, among all the rest. Oh, and the more strict license enforcement is going to cause some waves :o.

I have promotions license, it was supposed to be a one year.
About 2 months ago it worked, now I reinstalled the system RS2 and it did not work.
The key does not match version v8 & v9

Hi, I am pro User of your great app. is gaming mode removed from the app?
I need to know. this is crucial to me. because i got this app only for gaming

  • No, it is renamed to ‘Performance Mode’. That is all.

  • Please email us at so we can determine where you got the promotional license from and if it is entitled to any updates. 99% of promotional licenses come with the ‘no updates’ clause, but if you qualify in that 1%, then I will evaluate it certainly.

Note that many Gen1 license keys that should have NOT worked were working for the last few months, and that was a big reason behind out switch to only Gen2 (no more maintaining 2 licensing systems).

Hi the download is a 64-bit exe, does not work on my 32-bit W7 installation…can you point me to the 32-bit final version?

  • It should auto-correct, if you use software like CryptoPrevent though, that can interfere. The direct link is:
