ProcWatch – Initial Release

ProcWatch is a free and lightweight utility to alert you to resource hogs on your PC. We’ve had this capability silently built into Process Lasso for a while now, active only in beta versions for our internal use. During that time, we started to occasionally detect abnormal usage from some system and third-party processes, such as a resource leak in SystemSettings.exe that took some time for Microsoft to fix. Without an alert, we might never have noticed that it was the cause of a PC slowdown.

Therefore, we thought we’d bring this capability to users, freely and without restriction. ProcWatch was born. It has a number of presets, or you can define your own rules. When a process exceeds a set threshold for handles, memory, compute (CPU), GDI, or other resources, you’ll get alerted.

ProcWatch is tiny, consumes almost no resources itself, and is a good safeguard to have running in the background. If you discover a problem process, you can set rules with Process Lasso to mitigate it.
