Coreprio / Re: CorePrio not helping with metatrader 5 software for windows
« Last post by Jeremy Collake on March 23, 2019, 12:36:32 PM »
Have you tried, with the NUMA Dissociater enabled and DLM disabled, restarting the MetaTrader process? The NUMA Dissociater is known to only work about 50% of the time, so performance can vary between instances of MetaTrader. Restarting its process lets you initiate a new test.

This variance in efficacy is not any bug in Coreprio, but rather something unknown about the nature of the 2990wx performance issue in Windows. Nobody has precisely determined the root cause of the performance issue to date afaik. We only see the symptoms, have mitigating actions, and unproven hypothesis.

Coreprio / CorePrio not helping with metatrader 5 software for windows
« Last post by paolosioli on March 23, 2019, 12:18:07 PM »
hi guys. congratulations for your great job.
i rent a 2990wx to use with the most famous trading software (metatrader 5) for windows
this last version 5 support all virtual cores of cpu
so the 2990wx is recognized ad 64 thread cpu, correct, and awesome!!!
in fact, during elaboration, it's possible to see the realtime usage of any single thread of 64

unfortunately, performance of the 2990wx with that software are bad
the 2990wx with 32 core is performing lower than a epyc 7401p with only 24 cores (with lower speed)
i'm also renting the epyc processor, so i'm able to compare performance directly on the 2 remote server
same version of windows 10, same metatrader 5 platform, same identical test passes elaborations

i already tried coreprio with all standard combinations (DLM on/off, NUMA on/off), but it seems not improving any result
could anyone help me? i will be happy to donate some tens of dollars for your help
thanks

if needed, i could post a video of comparison between the 2 remote dedicated server
thanks in advance
paolo

Feature Requests / Re: Live search

This will likely come in time with larger work to the GUI. As you suggest, a pause button will be necessary to smoothly facilitate it.

Right now when you search for a process in the UI the display seems to be static - stats dont update and processes dont appear/disappear if they start/stop while search text is entered.

A live view while searching would be great - Just like Process Hacker.    Or live view default but with a 'freeze' button.
Thanks for the request, The reason it is like that is so when your typing out your search the process doesn't close, you can also do a search in logveiw too.

Agree, treeview would be nice.

Process Lasso / Re: More Wildcards? +mismatched functionality

It does seem to have an issue if multiple exe are in the folder and if one starts temporally while the game runs.

For now, I would just add the exe name for the ones you come across until we find workaround/fix.

I did find an issue with the pathing.  I will describe it best I can below.

This is the same for ProBalance and for Performance Mode.  It works, most of the time.  But never for an executable that calls another executable.  Which in the case of, let's call this game ABC.
d:\games\*

I launch the game, which launches a launcher or not even a launcher, it's just another executable calling the primary game, ABC.exe in this example.  The caller will get the 'Xg'.. but the called exe will not.  It will get nothing.

Even though, that called exe, falls under d:\games\* ..

For me the launcher program can be set if you have problems, that might help with some anti-cheat.
So you could try setting some troubled setting to Origin, Steam, Uplay etc, just remember these will run in background longer than the game.

The game will inherit the settings from its parent (the anti cheat software). Set the anti cheat's priority/affinity etc. while the game is launching and it will transfer to the game.

Great tip!

I should have also noted that 'Forced mode' (in Options menu) will also resolve some conflicts. As Ed said, it depends on the anti-cheat software and/or game.
