How Free Is Free? What is Freemium?

Freemium is a term coined in the software industry for a licensing model by which application is free, but has some restrictions or offers additional functionality in a Premium/Pro edition of the software.

How Free is Process Lasso?

Did you know Process Lasso was the FIRST utility of its kind? Bitsum literally created the real-time PC optimization market and more. We invented the famous ProBalance algorithm and were the one of the first to notice and do something about the performance degradation caused by OS controlled CPU core parking (Intel later moved core parking control to the hardware due to this!). We even developed a remarkably simply, accurate responsiveness metric to measure the impact of our technologies. With your support we’ll continue breaking new ground!

TL;DR; Process Lasso in ‘free’ use may have some ‘nag’ when it starts up, sometimes. It may further have feature restrictions, but those are limited to advanced functions. It is really very usable. However, we encourage you to buy a Pro license to support development and allow us to keep our software as free as possible.

NOTE: The ‘Free Edition’ (freemium) of Process Lasso will, after being installed for a while, throw up a brief timed nag at startup. It’s really no big deal, but we wanted to mention it so you aren’t surprised.

Nag or not, the Free Edition of Process Lasso is highly functional, with the most popular features (such as ProBalance) never expiring. We also offer 100% FREEWARE projects, and it is your support that enables our continued R&D. We thank you for it!

In contrast, the Server Edition is a time limited trial, pure Shareware.

We don’t want there to be ANY surprises with Process Lasso. The Free Edition becomes the Pro version after it is activated by a License key purchased from Bitsum (see how to activate here).

Home users can use the free build indefinitely, though they will experience some activation requests (via a pop-up) and a reduction in available features (see chart above for comparison) after the 30-day trial ends.

Server Edition users will have 30 days to fully evaluate the product before it expires. Process Lasso Pro is well worth the cost and your purchase helps support continued development.

Bitsum LLC and its affiliates reserves the right to make changes at any time, without notice. Other unlisted or new features may also be disabled in the free edition.

Partial indicates that some automation functions of the feature will disable when the trial period ends.
Limited simply means a service may be available in part and/or for a limited time-frame.
