So, did BSOD can also having some broken file happen at the same times?
I know the files that are reading/writing will be broken when BSOD, but the wallpaper don't access at that time.
I wonder why it will missing after I boot to Desktop...
The system setting is broken? :)

I wonder if files could have been deleted in your case, though you can't exclude it - it's Windows. More likely Wallpaper or PrevWallpaper in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop were broken, or different registry changes resulted in shell not being able to display the wallpaper.

EDIT: Depends on the OS, my assumptions are about Windows 7. I don't know how about Windows 8, but, from what I've seen, registry structure in Windows 8 doesn't differ that much in many locations.

I can say, yes, the Wallpaper file has been delete for a few month, as I just download, set as Wallpaper, delete it. ;D
And I am very surprised for MS, they know what should windows do when user delete the wallpaper file, just keep it as Wallpaper even the file has been deleted, I think they should be saving the wallpaper somewhere.

And they also keep tracking for where is the Wallpaper file goes, if you move the file into a folder, they will know it, if you add some file into that folder, they will adding it as one of the rotate wallpaper. ;)

If I want to know the answer, I can use SystemRestore to find out, but too bad I don't wanna my changes lost.
Anyway can we check the SystemRestore without restore it? :)

Do you have a before-BSOD registry backup?

You could check changes by loading and comparing two user registry hives. The problem is, System Restore functions different way in Windows 7 and above. In XP you have a folder System Volume Information in which you can crawl and find "last working" registry.
If you hadn't backed up your registry before, I can't see any other way you could find out the reason then.

I have been following reports of drivers on latest Nvidia 320.xx and over at Geforce and gru3d forums I saw a few very odd comments to me with some win8 builds .
A few said it totally messed up there install to point of couldn't go back to older drivers or even run app in win8 .
I have to see if I come across them again (there so many posts on driver issues ).

From what I remember they also said there no safe mode anymore in win8 ?
And some thing about after a BSOD win8 trys to fix OS by altering files, trying to repair itself . I have no idea if any of these is true, it sounds fishy , but throwing it out there . If I come across some more credible posts i will link them .

Edit: I see why report win8 has no safe mode, but it does, it is just tricky/different to get to at startup then in older versions .

Nope, but yes, Windows 8 has System Volume Information, will try to find inside of it. :)

Yes, but the issues is, you can't go into safe mode without boot into the OS first. ::)

And I don't try to using older version than 320.xx of Nvidia drivers, only one times, I uninstall 325.71 and install 320.49 Beta, without issues. :)

Yes, I wonder why they removed option "before" you boot OS .
Maybe something with there fast boot feature ,not sure .

That is bad if OS is totally unstable or unbootable . I wonder if some kind of boot disk would help .

Yes, I has the same BSOD before, happen 2 times in 10 mins, but it don't lost the wallpaper.
So I wonder why it will be lost at that time...

Fast boot(hibernate) and SuperFetch will be disable after BSOD, so this functions can be ignore.
It can be something happen about the Desktop don't load at boot, it will only load after you switch to the desktop.
----
Just tried to access the System Volume Information, but I only can get the access for this folder, not subfolder, so I think it don't worth for me to access and find out why...
----
So I just found the cache folder, and check the deleted file, but I can't recover it as it is broken.
But I found one thing, the Last Modified time is 2-7-2013 02:33 AM which is date-month-year, but the time that I crash is 3-7-2013 12:52 AM and 3-7-2013 7:00 AM(which is when the Wallpaper missing).

I don't changed the wallpaper for a few month, so I wonder why windows will modified it, maybe it will doing this everytime I restart the computer.

And after the BSOD, the only difference is I click the power button when showing the BIOS logo and shutdown normally(I has doing this many times).

So the 2 thing is
1.Hard Disk broken
But my SMART is showing normally, and after this happen, I has open HDTune, and I found nothing about reading file error or similar.
2.Something happen when it access the cache.
I think this is more possible, as the file is deleted by windows.
But how?
Registry setting broken and it delete the file, or it can't access the file, or I changed the wallpaper and it delete the file?

Will try to find out what's windows 8 do when switch to desktop. :)

BenYeeHua

And after another BSoD, the Tray Icon has lost the position. :P
And I also has some file system broken, but luckily it has been fixed by using SFC /scannow. :)

Could you have issue with SSD , going bad .

I would go back to 314.07 for vid driver, that one seems last stable one . With all your BSOD sounds like you be needing new install too .  :(

Nope, the cause of the BSoD I think is the windows 8 PPPoE is broken, as I can't use it without cFosSpeed installed.
And I don't has a SSD too, it is all happen with HDD.

Just reported to the cFos, let see what we will find out.

So far I only crash with the Graphic card driver one times with Intel and Nvidia. :)

You find that cFosSpeed really works well ?

I don't know, so I am using cFos Broadband Connect(another PPPoE dial-up driver software) today and see did it will crash or not.
Then we will know it is caused by Windows 8 PPPoE, cFosSpeed or not.(when waiting the dev to check the Kernel dump.)

As the Windows PPPoE can't dial-up, but it can after I install cFosSpeed, I think it(BSoD) is a issue on Windows side.
----
If you means did cFosSpeed works well for traffic shaping, then yes.
If you has only one computer that are using the Internet, you can uploading file with 99% upload speed when browsing and downloading file with 99% download speed.
When playing a P2P game and you are the host, the upload file will slowing down by the priority that has been set, so that you don't slowing down other player by the not important upload data. ;)
When browsing, it just slowing down other download software.

And it can be increase the download speed as sometimes the RWIN are too small(if the windows don't set too large, and you has a large latency for that connection) :)

Yes, I meant was it worth it to install .
I am on broadband, cable modem , I saw this listed way back on betanews file listing .

It sounds good from feature specs but a lot of apps do .

I think many MB will ship this or a renamed version with MB along with other apps .

It just brought up memory I saw with Asus Network iControl and all issues I saw being posted on internet .
I never bothered installing it ,don't really have issue with UP/DL speeds , so was just wondering on your feedback on it

Too bad it is just pass the summer offer...
It is listed in my must buy/install software list, as it deserve for it.

You can just install it, let it upload itself to detect the max upload speed, go to Options-Settings, click on •Adapter Info, if it is showing Calibration Done 100% (Perfect), then it is ready to serve for you.
If it don't showing it, just go to a file sharing website and upload the file with full speed, then here you go.

You can download the trial version, testing it for 30 days, and decide wanna to buy it or not.

For becoming a advanced user, try open the "Current Connections", click on the Current Connections(Advanced) and changing the priority real-time. ;)

Yes, you can check the OEM list at here.

And I think my BSoD has been solved, let see it will be happen at this midnight or not. :)
