Free Lifetime Updates!

Let’s Talk About Licensing – Subscriptions or Lifetime

I have long opposed Auto-Recurring Subscriptions. I like Manual Renewal, user choice. Better, I prefer a simple LIFETIME license (for updates, all major and minor), even if it nets me less total revenue. In fact, Bitsum pioneered Lifetime licenses, as who else would be so fiscally ignorant? It is not all about money for me, so I’d rather the user and I both have a simple Lifetime license. In fact, I tried Lifetime-ONLY, but some users wanted cheaper licenses.

So, I also added non-lifetime. Now, here is the point:

The third-party software we currently use for software licensing (Gen2) prohibits use of Auto-Recurring and Manually Renewing licenses on the same site. In short, we are stuck with Auto-Recurring Subscriptions for non-Lifetime licenses. But, don’t worry, you can cancel the subscription right after ordering, from right here on the site and I have clearly demarcated subscriptions.

Here is the good news:

  1. I’ve clearly labelled all auto-recurring subscriptions as just that, including adding an extra line below some downloads.
  2. Users can cancel the subscription here on the site immediately after ordering! (and keep your license until renewal)
  3. We have a refund policy and if an unexpected second charge ever did come around next year, we’ll refund it and cancel your subscription. No money lost.
  4. We recommend the simplicity and value of our LIFETIME licenses, available on ALL our products, by option.

In short, we are stuck with Auto-Recurring Subscriptions for non-Lifetime licenses. But, don’t worry, you can cancel the subscription right after ordering, from right here on the site.

Licenses that say ‘LIFETIME’ are not ‘subscriptions’, to be absolutely clear, so no need to ‘cancel’ anything there.

Thanks to all who use our software!

p.s. Some companies have tried to copy Bitsum, but can only go so far as ‘lifetime of your PC’. Our lifetime licenses ARE completely transferable to another PC (not another user though).
